Skills are a type of gameplay mechanic in Battle Brothers. Skills are mainly associated with Weapons. Each weapon grants between one and three different skills for as long as the weapon is equipped. Skills can be used at the cost of Action Points and Fatigue.

Weapon Skills Edit

Generally, each weapon type grants a Basic Weapon Attack Skill and a Special Attack or Support Skill for as long as the weapon is equipped.

Punctureactive   Puncture A well-placed attack at the opponent armor's weakspots. Ignores all armor but is harder to hit with and can not land critical hits for additional damage.

  • Inflicts damage that ignores armor
  • Has -15% chance to hit
  • Completely ignores armor

Slash   Slash A swift slashing attack dealing average damage.

    can ignore armor
  • Inflicts damage to armor
  • Has +10% chance to hit

Riposte   Riposte Prepare to immediately counter-attack any opponent that attempts to attack in melee and misses.

Spearwall   Spearwall Prepare to immediately attack any opponent that attempts to move into melee range and, on a hit, prevent that opponent from closing in. Targets hit will receive half the damage of a normal Thrust attack. Can not be used while already engaged in melee.

Shield Skills Edit

All shields usually come with 2 Support Skills: Knock Back and Shieldwall. All excluding Bucklers which only has the Knock Back skill.

Knock Back   Knock Back Use the shield to knock a target away by one tile. Targets hit will receive fatigue and may take damage if they are pushed down several levels of height. Shieldwall, Spearwall and Riposte will be canceled for a target that is successfully knocked back. A rooted target can not be knocked back.

Shieldwall   Shieldwall The shield is raised to a protective stance until next turn. Allies using Shieldwall next to each other further increase their protection by overlapping their shields.

  • Grants +15 Melee Defense for one turn
  • Grants +15 Ranged Defense for one turn
  • Grants an additional +5 Defense against all attacks for each ally adjacent also using Shieldwall

Racial Skills Edit

Many non-human foes have their own abilities unique to them. Some are simply basic attacks, while others are dangerous skills that can change the tide of battle.

Zombie 2   Bite Low damage, very ineffective against armor. Zombies
Werewolf   Direwolf Bite Medium damage, high armor damage. Direwolves
Goul 2   Eat Corpse The Nachzehrer consumes a corpse on the same tile to increase their size, gaining permanent bonuses to attack and defense and increasing their morale by one level. Eating also fully restores health. Nachzehrers
Goul   Ghoul Claw Medium damage and armor damage. Nachzehrers
Graspingactive   Grasping Vines Roots up to 7 targets from distance, thus preventing them from moving and lowering their defensive skills. Cannot overlap with being netted. Goblin Shamans
Vampire 2   Darkflight Teleports the Necrosavant. Necrosavants
Vampire   Vampirism Heals for the same amount as HP damage inflicted on every successful attack. Necrosavants
Lost Soul 2   Scream Forces morale check on target and allies around him. Geists
Lost Soul   Touching Ghost Melee attack, ignores armor. Geists
Zombie   Resurrection Resurrects target corpse. Necromancers
Swarnactive   Insect swarm Gives severe debuffs to the swarmed. -50% debuff to attack and defense skills for 3 turns. Goblin Shamans
Lash-goblins   Lash Forces steady morale for any fleeing goblin, Forces goblins in any other morale state to confident. Goblin Overseers
Orcs   Stunning Jump Jumps to a target, high chance to stun Orcs
Active 49   Mighty Roar Increases morale of allies, forces morale check for nearby hostiles. Orc Warlords

Perk Skills Edit

Perk Skills contain mostly Support and Mobility Skills and can be learned by investing into Perk Tree.

Recover   Recover Take a deep breath and rest for a turn in order to recover your strength.

  • Current Fatigue is reduced by half.
