Skills are a type of gameplay mechanic in Battle Brothers. Skills are mainly associated with Weapons. Each weapon grants between one and three different skills for as long as the weapon is equipped. Skills can be used at the cost of Action Points and Fatigue.

Weapon Skills Edit

Generally, each weapon type grants a Basic Weapon Attack Skill and a Special Attack or Support Skill for as long as the weapon is equipped.

Costs 4 AP to use and builds up 7 Fatigue
  • Daggers (1H)
34px   Puncture A well-placed attack at the opponent armor's weakspots. Ignores all armor but is harder to hit with and can not land critical hits for additional damage.
Costs 4 AP to use and builds up 20 Fatigue
  • Inflicts damage that ignores armor
  • Has -15% chance to hit
  • Completely ignores armor

Slash   Slash A swift slashing attack dealing average damage.
Costs 4 AP to use and builds up 10 Fatigue
  • Inflicts damage to hitpoints, of which a small amount
    can ignore armor
  • Inflicts damage to armor
  • Has +10% chance to hit

Riposte   Riposte Prepare to immediately counter-attack any opponent that attempts to attack in melee and misses.

Thrust   Thrust A well placed thrust attack that is hard to avoid or block.

  • Inflicts damage to armor
  • Has +20% chance to hit

Spearwall   Spearwall Prepare to immediately attack any opponent that attempts to move into melee range and, on a hit, prevent that opponent from closing in. Targets hit will receive half the damage of a normal Thrust attack. Can not be used while already engaged in melee.

Shield Skills Edit

All shields usually come with 2 Support Skills: Knock Back and Shieldwall. All excluding Bucklers which only has the Knock Back skill.

Skill Description Source
Knock Back   Knock Back Use the shield to knock a target away by one tile. Targets hit will receive fatigue and may take damage if they are pushed down several levels of height. Shieldwall, Spearwall and Riposte will be canceled for a target that is successfully knocked back. A rooted target can not be knocked back.

Shieldwall   Shieldwall The shield is raised to a protective stance until next turn. Allies using Shieldwall next to each other further increase their protection by overlapping their shields.
Costs 4 AP to use and builds up 20 Fatigue
  • Grants +15 Melee Defense for one turn
  • Grants +15 Ranged Defense for one turn
  • Grants an additional +5 Defense against all attacks for each ally adjacent also using Shieldwall
All shields, except Buckler

Racial Skills Edit

Some enemies have unique skills that can not be learned by Battle Brothers. Like Young Orcs Charge, or Orc Warlord Roar. Racial skills are usually Support or Mobility skills.

Zombie 2   Bite Weak damage, very low armor damage. Zombies
Werewolf   Direwolf Bite Medium damage, high armor damage. Direwolfs
Goul 2   Eat Corpse Ghoul consume corpse on the same tile as him, increase his size, gaining bonus to attack and defense stats, often increasing his own morale. Ghouls
Goul   Goul Attack Medium damage and armor damage. Ghouls
Vampire 2   Teleport Teleports the withered vampire. Withered Vampires
Vampire   Vampirism Description... Withered Vampires
Lost Soul 2   Scream Forces morale check on target and allies around him. Lost Souls
Lost Soul   Touching Ghost Direct attack to HP, completely ignore armor. Lost Souls
Zombie   Resurrection Resurrects zombies and skeletons. Necromancers
   Insect swarm Gives severe debuffs to the swarmed. -50% debuff to attack and defense skills, 3 turn long Goblin Shamans
   Lash Force targeted goblin into confident morale Goblin Overseers
Orcs   Stunning Jump Jumps to a target and on hit will likely cause stun. Orcs
Active 49   Mighty Roar Increases morale of allies, lowers enemy morale. Orc Warlords

Perk Skills Edit

Perk Skills contain mostly Support and Mobility Skills and can be learned by investing into Perk Tree.

Perk 42 active   Rally the Troops
34px   Recover Take a deep breath and rest for a turn in order to recover your strength.
Costs 9 AP to use and builds up 0 Fatigue
  • Current Fatigue is reduced by half.
